NFL Play 60 at Cathcart Elementary School, Snohomish, Washington

The official video of the NFL Play 60 celebration assembly held at Cathcart Elementary on 2011 November 15. John Carlson, Seattle Seahawks Tight End and 2011 Seahawks Man of the Year was the Seahawks representative in that video, as was Casey Bowers, the principal at Cathcart Elementary.

The video for the NFL Play 60 celebration assembly held at Cathcart Elementary School may also be found here on the Seattle Seahawks website. Another video of that NFL Play 60 event may be found on YouTube.

NFL Play 60 at the White House, Featuring President Obama and Drew Brees

Of all the NFL Play 60 videos, this is one that stands out from the rest. It is a video of an NFL Play 60 event held at the White House and is viewable on First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move website. This same video may also be viewed on YouTube.

From what I have been able to determine, the official sanctioning of NFL Play 60 or any private enterprise or organization would constitute an ethics violation on the part of President Obama. I may be mistaken about that, but I really wonder if President Obama would support the NFL if he were aware that children inside public schools faced discriminatory behavior during these NFL Play 60 events.

George Carlin Explaining Why Education in America Sucks (Amongst Other Things)

I have included this classic from the late comedian, George Carlin, where he discusses why public education sucks amongst other problems we face in America. The video clip is under three minutes long and I suggest you view it to receive the full impact of what George Carlin is expressing.

In the event you are unable to view George Carlin's video, here are a few quotes extracted from his monologue:

"There’s a reason education sucks … "

" … but I’ll tell you what they (the owners of America) don’t want. They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. That’s against their interests. That’s right! They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around the kitchen table to figure how badly they’re getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard thirty years ago. They don’t want that. You know what they want? They want obedient workers! Obedient workers! People who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork and just dumb enough to passively accept all of these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime, and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it. And now they’re coming for your Social Security money ..."

The thing that escaped George Carlin's attention is now they want our children too. Not only do they want our children, but they want us to cheer for them while they exploit these children. This way they can publicly profess their great contributions to their communities.

"It’s a big club and you ain’t in it. You and I are not in the big club. By the way, it’s the same big club they beat you over the head with all day long to tell you what to believe … telling you what to believe, what to think and what to buy."

This would explain why our children’s real education is being replaced with events like NFL Play 60. It’s a form of indoctrination rather than an education. These are powerful private interests working the system here; telling our children what to believe in, what to think and what to buy. In this case, NFL owners want to indoctrinate young children who are at a very impressionable age to become Seahawks and football fans. And for the small price of a prize and a couple of hours of their time, they put together a bogus community service program that is aimed at these impressionable children with the goal of achieving even greater revenue and profits in the future.

Seattle Seahawks Assembly at Kimball Elementary School, Seattle, Washington

This is a video of an assembly held at Kimball Elementary School in Seattle after the Seattle Seahawks had earned a berth into the Super Bowl. According to this article that ran in The Seattle Times, the Seahawks jerseys worn by the children were provided for free, courtesy of an online fundraising drive lead by Kevin Zelko, a teacher at the school.

While this doesn't appear to be an event officially sanctioned by the Seattle Seahawks, it is sanctioned by the Seattle School District. So what's the big deal? Well, under the principles of fairness and equality, can I show my enthusiasm by purchasing NRA jackets for Cathcart Elementary students and have a "spirit day" for the National Rifle Association? Can I also film it and post it on the Internet? Maybe I can even get The Seattle Times to write an article about it. The point is, wouldn't the public assume this event were officially sanctioned by the school district? Why wouldn't they?

I hope it has become obvious regarding the door that has been opened here. And if you happened to view George Carlin's video prior to this one, this is a prime example where children are not being educated in a manner to think for themselves, but are being told what to think and what to believe in. Just like religion. The churches attempted to influence education many years ago which is why we have those laws on the books to prevent "sectarian influence and control." It now appears that we need the similar laws to prevent the influence and control from corporations, non-profit organiations, political organizations, and probably a few others.
